Alone in a Conversation

Alone in a Conversation

By Scott Senften
December 2001

Sitting alone at the table, the steam rising from the passion in his cup.

She looks through the mists, past the storm, to the truth that lies shrouded.

Have you ever wondered if you’ve chosen your path if you’ve made your choice, he asks.

She peers around the wall, past the fence, to the light that should still shine.

Do you really believe that the paradox can ever be solved if you truly believe in both sides, he asks.

She hears more than the words, beyond the frequency of the cries, as the music of a life resonates beyond the senses.

In faith, he states, raising the wall against the storm that drowns out the music and rises from the table, his tea now cold; the day long.
